Where to write

Introducing: Where to Write, Right Now

Big cities typically mean small spaces, and I’ve experienced a bevy of creative writing “nooks” both inside my apartment and out in the wild. In my NYC East Village studio, I would write in my bed propped up by pillows, and in the Upper East Side it was our kitchen table – the same table I’m sitting at right now, while writing this in London. But regardless of whether you’ve got a tricked-out home office or are dealing with a makeshift situation ft. this morning’s breakfast crumbs, it can always be good to mix up the scenery and streamline your focus. A home, no matter how small, contains its own endless responsibilities and entertainment distractions, like this week’s laundry or what’s on TV.

I’m going to start small by curating London neighborhood spots (& your recommendations!) that are the best (in my opinion) places to work. How will you choose? Well, with a list of perks from Tube proximity to scone prices, you can be the judge on what parameters matter most to you.

Eventually I’m hoping this will be like Infatuation’s heatmap. That you can filter by your needs (best places for vegans, great music, etc.), but I also just moved here, so I’m also hoping I can lean on the London writing community to help crowdsource the crème de la crème in specific neighborhoods. And eventually, wherever you live, you’ll know where to go to write, right now.
